Terms Entered in Search Tools
A name, location, or other term entered into an embedded search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates the tool. Lincoln County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages Sent to Us
If you send an email or submit a contact message, we keep the information needed to read and answer it. We do not share the message outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Routine server, analytics, and advertising systems may record technical details when a page loads. These details can include:
- The internet protocol address associated with the request.
- The browser name and version in use.
- The device category and operating system.
- The pages viewed and the time spent on them.
- The referring website, when the browser provides one.
- The date and time of each request.
Cookies and Similar Storage
Cookies help measure how visitors use the site and may support certain functions. A browser can reject or delete cookies through its settings. Blocking them may change how some site features or outside tools work.
Purposes for Using Data
Collected information is used only for ordinary site and service functions, including the following:

Links may lead to the Lincoln County Sheriff, Minnesota courts, MNDOC, federal locators, release-record resources, or outside search providers. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination’s own privacy terms govern. Government-record access in Minnesota may also be controlled by specific law, including the public-data framework in Minnesota Statutes section 13.03, rather than this private-site notice.
Some advertising companies use their own technology to recognize activity across websites and tailor ads. Any such tracking occurs through the advertising company’s systems and is subject to its policies.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may still pass to a limited group when needed to operate the site or comply with law:
- Search providers that process a query submitted to their tool.
- Analytics vendors that measure visits and site performance.
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure advertisements.
- Law enforcement or another government authority acting under a valid legal order.
Reasonable Security Measures
We use standard administrative and technical practices intended to protect information within our control. No internet-connected service can promise complete security, however. We cannot guarantee that a transmission, stored message, or system will be immune from every breach or unauthorized access attempt.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under eighteen. If a parent or guardian believes a minor submitted information, the adult may use the Contacts page to request its deletion.
Choices About Your Data
Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify the request, a user may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal information we hold about that user.
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate.
- Delete personal information that no longer must be kept.
- Stop certain processing when an applicable opt-out right exists.
